Rasht


Map of Iran and surrounding countries, showing location of Rasht Rasht is the capital of the province of Guilan in Iran, at the edge of the coastal plain, 30 km from the Caspian Sea. The winter is mild, and the summer is hot and humid. The estimated population in 2004 is less than one million people. Comparing to other cities with the same population shape, Rasht is not a religious city. The Sassanian province of Gilan were called Gilanshah, the name Rasht appearing after the Arab invasion in 682.
